It’s only natural that when you call such a business you’ll be put on hold at some point; such as when you’re being transferred or when waiting for someone to get off the ‘phone so you can speak to them. So what do you expect to hear?
Let’s pull a name out of a hat. Oh, look! The name that’s come out is Tony Cusack of Gill Akaster Solicitors (look them up online, they’re very lovely). Mr Cusack was one of those people that suddenly realised that he didn’t like the music that was being played down the ‘phone to his customers. It was probably “Greensleeves” or the latest by Metallica, you know the sort of thing.
When Mr Cusack spoke with Fresh Air Studios he discovered that not only could he give the customer a more pleasant on-hold experience but also, during these brief moments, he could engage with the customer and promote different aspects of his business.
Before you knew it, someone waiting to speak to a solicitor about a will was also finding out how Gill Akaster could make divorce a more pleasant experience. So now you know who to blame for the divorce rate going up in this country.
Mr Cusack says he’s never received any negative feedback about the customers’ on-hold experience and he’s also embracing other aspects of marketing such as Twitter and Facebook. He’s found that now he’s promoting his business on-hold and through social networking sites, his need for printing off endless leaflets has diminished.
