Telecommunications: Encoding

Using bespoke conversion software, we can provide IVR voice prompts ready for use. Not only will they be optimised for your specific telephone system but they will sound great to your customers.

Our attention to detail is paramount. The results depend on what you start with: our prompts are precisely edited, analysed, pre-filtered, and manually processed by specialist audio producers.

Fresh Air Studios are able to provide system-ready IVR voice prompt files in a wide range of formats and encoding algorithms.

Standard formats:

ITU-T (CCITT) Standards

G.711
Available in either A-law or mu-law µ-law
G.721
32 Kbps ADPCM, 4 bits at 8,000 samples/sec
G.726
40 Kbps ADPCM, 5 bits at 8,000 samples/sec
32 Kbps ADPCM, 4 bits at 8,000 samples/sec
24 Kbps ADPCM, 3 bits at 8,000 samples/sec
16 Kbps ADPCM, 2 bits at 8,000 samples/sec

Windows WAV files

Standard WAV files at a variety of sampling rates, 8 and 16bit.

Plus A-law, mu-law µ-law and non-standard windows encoding contained in a .wav file with header information.

Note: It is important to remember “.wav” stands mainly for wave-file rather than an actual encoding format. Hence, wav files can contain audio that cannot be played back on a standard PC unless the specific decoder is installed.
